Corona Drain Cleaning

Drain Cleaning Los Angeles

Drains, drains - they won’t go away. You wouldn’t want them to - you need them - in your bathroom, in your kitchen sink. You use them all the time, and like anything that receives heavy use, problems can occur.

With kitchen drains, grease and food waste can stick and make drains run slowly or clog and back up - and then it’s time to call the pizza delivery service, because you won’t want to be washing dishes until the issue is resolved!

In the bathroom, hair, soap, and grime are the build up culprits. Keep an eye on your shower and tub - before a drain becomes completely clogged it may simply run slowly. That’s not normal - water should drain right away when you shower, and rapidly post-bath.

Toilets can also be problematic. Whether it’s an excess of toilet paper or accidentally flushing baby wipes or facial tissue which dissolves less easily than toilet paper, clogs do happen. A plumbers’ snake is usually the easiest way to cut through the clog and clean the drain at the same time.

Then there are the drains you may not usually even consider - ground level drains such as drains on patios, in driveways, or laundry rooms. These drains usually contain a trap that can get clogged, causing back up.

Using drains everyday means that over time, almost inevitably, there’s going to be a clog or two. You can try to prevent this by using a drain filter in the bathroom to catch hair, running hot water anytime you put anything down a drain, pouring boiling water into a mildly clogged drain and being patient, adding more and more hot water until the clog - whatever it may be - dissolves.

But none of these measures help all the time. Sometimes you need to bring in a pro to do the cleaning. And you want to make sure you’re working with someone who knows what they are doing. Look at online reviews, ask for referrals. Drain cleaning Corona style: get rid of that clog fast and efficiently, or prevent it from happening in the first place with professional cleaning before a problem arises.

Spring Cleaning Tips

Yes, it's spring. Birds singing, blue skies, spring cleaning - you see garage sales at every corner, and there's a big run on rakes for the yard, and household cleaning products.

But there's one area that people don't think about all that often, and they should. It's the kind of spring cleaning that can be done - and should be - year 'round. And that's drain cleaning. I see a lot of drain issues, and one of the best ways to keep clogs at bay is one of the simplest. Preventative maintenance really means taking care of what you put down the drains in the first place.

Biggest problems: grease, coffee grounds, and soap and hair build up. Those are the main culprits.

Avoid even considering putting these items down a drain with with some simple tips:

Throw away or recycle coffee grounds rather than putting them down the drain.
Save cooking grease in a container and throw it out.
Get yourself a screen to filter out hair and soap build ups. That filter is such a simple thing, and is inexpensively available at hardware and plumbing stores, as well as big box home care stores just about anywhere you look. It will catch problems before they become problems at all.

It doesn’t hurt to do a little drain cleaning, either. Be sure to run some hot water through the sink after you put anything down the drain. Hot water prevents build ups in the drain interior surface, which can lead to clogging. So simple.

Don’t be shy about tossing a handful of baking soda into the drain, either, then running hot water. It’s a great cleaning tool, and absorbs bad smells - a win/win.

Yes, it's spring - time to put a little year round drain cleaning into action.

Environmentally Friendly You

Environmental friendliness is key to all aspects of home life these days. And in Corona, people are acutely aware of the importance of water saving. From low flush toilets to low flow shower heads, you're going to find some great ways to save money and the environment at the same time where plumbing is concerned.

Now those are pretty standard options to prevent water waste. Another idea, growing in popularity for both ease of use and cost savings is an on-demand water heater. This will save you on energy costs, which is a huge environmental savings right there. You won't be wasting time heating water that you're not using. And the hot water will be there when you need it, too.

An Energy Star rated, efficient dishwasher is another way to save money on water heating and water use. Ditto for a washing machine with an Energy Star rating. Installing these new appliances is a quick way to avoid water waste, save energy, and make things a little bit easier on your wallet.

Another good green way to go is to think outside the house. That's right, landscaping and irrigation systems. On the irrigation side, using a sprinkler system that's based on grey water usage is going to save a lot of money and water. Recycling water is simply a smart way to go in your home in Corona. And you can save any kind of water by utilizing native plants in your garden. They'll require less care, less water, and give your exterior an updated, stylish curb appeal conventional non-native gardens just can't match.

Green plumbing, like any aspect of environmentally friendly living, is something that's easy to adapt to, and will save you on energy costs as well as contributing to the well being of the environment.
